Patriots attack media amid cries of treason

( Duncan Campbell ) Just as the war-or-no-war debate has been conducted over the internet in ways perhaps not always reflected in the mainstream media, so, too, is the debate over patriotism and what it now means. It started, as has been reported now at some length, with the television show Politically Incorrect. Get the whole story here...

History, unfortunately, teaches nothing

( Jan Tekey ) We had the chance to live up to XX ? centuries. Twentieth Century - century of devastating wars and revolutions, century of the invention of the laser and nuclear bomb, smoothly has passed in the next time space. Thus all has taken place in such a manner that the prevailing part of earthmen, practically not feeling pulse and rhythm of new millennium, has remained to stay in inherent carelessness for human nature.

Passed 8 months and 10 days. 11th day of the ninth month of new century, in eyes of all world, in the clear September sky, American passenger planes, one behind the other, ran into symbols of New York - buildings of twin shopping center, ran into heart of America, in sacred of sacred - in symbol of Americanism. Other plane destroyed the building of the Pentagon. Its engine was blown up before the state department. The white house managed to escape only by miracle.

Clinton Administration supported
the 'Militant Islamic Base'

( Michel Chossudovsky ) Since the Soviet-Afghan war, recruiting Mujahedin ("holy warriors") to fight covert wars on Washington's behest has become an integral part of US foreign policy. A 1997 document of the US Congress reveals how the Clinton administration --under advice from the National Security Council headed by Anthony Lake-- had "helped turn Bosnia into a militant Islamic base" leading to the recruitment through the so-called "Militant Islamic Network," of thousands of Mujahedin from the Muslim world.

The "Bosnian pattern" has since been replicated in Kosovo, Southern Serbia and Macedonia. Among the foreign mercenaries now fighting with the Kosovo Liberation Army(KLA) in Macedonia are Mujahedin from the Middle East and the Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union. Also within the ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army are senior US military advisers from a private mercenary outfit on contract to the Pentagon as well as "soldiers of fortune" from Britain, Holland and Germany.

"Americans have many questions tonight. Americans are asking, 'Who attacked our country?'" said George W. Bush in his address to the US Congress on 20 September. "This group and its leader, a person named Osama bin Laden are linked to many other organizations in different countries." Get the whole story here...

US atrocity unacceptable not Israel, India and Russia?

( Davy De Verteuil ) Please Mr.Michel Chossudovsky, you article couldn't be much futher from the truth even if you wrote the script in Hollywood or the white house.

The US/NATO pact have never militarily helped the Bosnian people. For your information secret warrants are still pending for those who took part in the war even Bosnian "Muslims"citizens. Why it is when a so-called paper is "coviently release from the State department or congress we take it line hook and sinker, you seem to forget that there is where the Jews use as their playing ground. Genocide or Peace
We can feed the starving in Afghanistan
or mount a military campaign. We can't do both

( George Monbiot ) The new consensus has missed something. It's a consideration which is well-understood in peacetime, but often, and disastrously, ignored in war. It's the factor which defeated Napoleon and possibly Hitler. It's the item which brings all humanitarian operations to a halt. It is, of course, the winter. And the Afghan winter, like the Russian one, is absolute. Aid workers with long experience of Afghanistan report that after the first week of November, there is nothing you can do. This is the detail that changes everything, the 's' which makes the difference between laughter and slaughter. Get the whole story here...

The West Shares the Blame

( Baltasar Garzon ) By the time this article is published, the armed assault on Afghanistan, the Taliban regime, Osama bin Laden or his followers may have already begun. For some, it seems, they are all the same. But not to speak out against this is either a serious mistake or guilty acquiescence of the bellicose plans proclaimed repeatedly by US leaders.

The West's quiet acceptance, particularly among European countries, pains me. It should fill all of us with despair. Yes, there are big speeches and important agreements are signed. But ultimately, the West accepts - and even takes part in - the violent response. That the US was going to react as it says it will should come as no surprise. But the submission of other nations was difficult to foresee. It is alarming that countries such as France and Spain have not raised their voices to say "no": to reject the violent solution as the only available option; to uncover the big lie of a "final solution" against terrorism. Ten Things You Should Know about
U.S. Policy in the Middle East

( Stephen Zunes ) The Middle East is the destination of the majority of American arms exports, creating enormous profits for weapons manufacturers and contributing greatly to the militarization of this already overly-militarized region. Despite promises of restraint, U.S. arms transfers to the region have topped $60 billion since the Gulf War. Arms sales are an important component of building political alliances between the U.S. and Middle Eastern countries, particularly with the military leadership of recipient countries. There is a strategic benefit for the U.S. in having U.S.-manufactured systems on the ground in the event of a direct U.S. military intervention. Arms sales are also a means of supporting military industries faced with declining demand in Western countries.

To link arms transfers with a given country's human rights record would lead to the probable loss of tens of billions of dollars in annual sales for American weapons manufacturers, which are among the most powerful special interest groups in Washington. This may help explain why the United States has ignored the fact that UN Security Council resolution 687, which the U.S. has cited as justification for its military responses to Iraq¹s possible rearmament, also calls for region-wide disarmament efforts, something the United States has rejected.

The U.S. justifies the nearly $3 billion in annual military aid to Israel on the grounds of protecting that country from its Arab neighbors, even though the United States supplies 80 percent of the arms to these Arab states. The 1978 Camp David Accord between Israel and Egypt was in many ways more like a tripartite military pact than a peace agreement in that it has resulted in more than $5 billion is annual U.S. arms transfers to those two countries. U.S. weapons have been used repeatedly in attacks against civilians by Israel, Turkey and other countries. It is not surprising that terrorist movements have arisen in a region where so many states maintain their power influence through force of arms. Get the whole story here...

Politician - hostage of crowd

( Paul Luzakov ) Today George Bush cannot stop approaching war, even if he wanted too. Simply he is not given the chance to do it. The black female senator, voting against implementation by America of "anti-terrorist operation", was threatened by phone only because she dared to express against this decision! And it in a citadel of Freedom and Democracy! To think only: States, which are since long proud of political correctness and tolerance, have in a moment slid to the anti-Arabian moods, attacks and even pogroms. It was informed by the most courageous MASS MEDIA (including Radio 'Liberty'). Specially it was necessary for the politician even to speak and to calm the population, but rather in original manner. Say, it is not necessary to create self-court, all of us shall make rockets and bombs, in much more scales!

Also they will do it. Because the majority of so-called "civilized" people are not only in America, but in Russia also, who demand immediate revenge. And, when you talk to everyone alone, everyone agrees, that yes, certainly, still authentically is not known, who stood behind the terrorists, who attacked on America. That, there are no authentic proofs of guilt of Bin Laden, and especially simple Afghans are not guilty in anything, who will be targeted in the attacks, all this so, but...
